Instructions [+]
This page is for studying words you draw from AxTongue captions, or for curating the list of words you have "checked." Checked words will not be concealed anymore in AxTongue captions in a numbered conceal mode, unless they have been "culled" on this page.
If you feel like you know a word, you "prune" it (✔). Otherwise, reveal it by clicking on the word or the definition, then cull it (❌).
Try to prune all words at least once. The more times you prune a word, the more you will remember it. There is no set upper limit, but if you are barely culling words anymore, consider moving on and adding more words from videos.
By default, definitions are visible and words are concealed. This is because you're more likely to remember a word if you can come up with it yourself instead of knowing it when you see it. But you can do it the other way around, if you want. You can conceal or reveal a whole column by clicking on the header (the "Transcription", "Text", and "Definition" at the top.)
"Transcriptions" are for languages written in different scripts. For instance, the transcript for the Chinese character "文" is "wén". This column may be empty for most language pairs, which use the Roman script. Transcriptions are also concealed by default, even if you click on the definition. If you cannot read the "Word" text, click on the transcription to reveal it.
The video links link to the video and the timestamp of the given word when it was first checked.
If you want to delete a word altogether, not just cull it, click on the "Cull" header. Its text will change to "Delete". Clicking "❌" will now delete a given word.
You can click on the table titles, like "French" or "Culled", to hide or show the tables.
You are welcome to use this page in conjunction with AxTongue captions however you like. For example, you may use "Conceal: 1" mode and carefully check words only once you feel like you know them, then come to this page later to double check that you've memorized it. Or you can watch a video without concealment all the way through, then triple click the "check" button to check all words in the video that are not already checked, then work your way through all the words on this page.
You have not checked any words.
